The D-AKNP Aviationtag Edition

The D-AKNP Aviationtag Edition

Today we are thrilled to be adding the fantastic colours of the former Eurowings Airbus A319-100 D-AKNP to Aviationtag’s colour spectrum.

The A319 sporting Manufacturer Serial Number (MSN) 1155 was shipped to US Airways and registered as N728UW right after the turn of the millennium in January 2000. US Airways initially fitted the MSN 1155 with 12 business class seats and 112 economy class seats, with Germanwings and Eurowings then turning the 124 seats into a single-class configuration offering 144 seats.

In June 2005, Germanwings leased the Airbus, registering it in Germany as D-AKNP. In 2017, the D-AKNP was transferred to Eurowings and given its brand new livery.

Eurowings is a German airline headquartered in Düsseldorf by the way and a subsidiary of Lufthansa. Since 2015 it has been pooling flights away from the hubs of Frankfurt and Munich. From its bases Eurowings primarily operates flights to German and European destinations, no longer positioning itself as a low-cost airline like Ryanair or Wizz Air, but instead as a “value airline” offering low-cost flights. In April 2022, Eurowings boasted more than 80 planes and more than 30 Airbus A319-100s like our MSN 1155.

In 2020, the A319 was retired and finally dismantled in Rothenburg-Göritz in 2021. In the intervening period, the MSN 1155 was parked in Hamburg for a few months and later also in Kaunas / Lithuania for over a year.

We are thrilled to have locked in some colourful pieces for our latest Aviationtag Edition! Don’t miss out.
