Introducing our latest addition to the Aviationtag family – the ATR 72-500 VT-JCM! Originally delivered to Jet Airways in 2008 under the registration VT-JCM, this aircraft boasts a rich and storied history that spans India and captivates imaginations. With the Manufacturer Serial Number (MSN) 793, this particular aircraft played a significant role in regional aviation before embarking on its next chapter.

Designed as a regional turboprop airliner, the ATR 72-500 served Jet Airways faithfully until its operations ceased in April 2019 due to financial insolvency. Despite plans for its transfer to Voepass in Brazil, the aircraft's journey took a different path, ultimately leading to its grounding in Toulouse and subsequent storage as M-ABMD.

However, rather than fading into obscurity, this aircraft found new life through Aviationtag's commitment to sustainability and innovation. In 2023, after years of service and storage, the ATR 72-500 was eventually scrapped, marking the end of its aviation journey. Yet, from its remnants emerged a remarkable opportunity for preservation and reinvention.

Now, in 2024, Aviationtag proudly presents the ATR 72-500 Edition, crafted from the salvaged materials of this resilient aircraft. With meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, each ATR 72-500 Aviationtag preserves a piece of aviation history.

Note: Every tag is unique. Depending on the plane, tags may vary in terms of haptics, material thickness and colour. Small blemishes bear witness to the plane’s long history and are an authentic reminder of its glory days over the clouds. Small scratches, flaky paint and imperfections are totally normal and give our Aviationtags their unique charm – the charm of a vintage product crafted from upcycled materials. These quirks are not the result of the production process, they simply reflect the state of the aircraft material we use when it was extracted. The original aircraft paint of this edition is rather sensitive, so please take good care of your tag!

If you want to use it as a key-chain or bag-tag we strongly suggest to use the Aviationtag protection cover.

ATR 72-500: The ATR 72 is a turboprop regional airliner made by the French-Italian consortium Avions de Transport Régional for short-haul freight and passenger services. It was developed from the shorter ATR 42. In January 1986, the ATR 72 was officially unveiled, with Finland’s Karair taking delivery of the first ATR 72-100 in 1989.

The ATR 72 is the 4.5 m stretched version of the ATR 42. Like the latter, it boasts two turboprop engines. In addition to the extended passenger cabin, the wings were enlarged, too. As the plane’s fuel tanks are located in the wings, this also allowed the ATR 72 to have a larger fuel tank and in turn a longer range.

Its maximum range is a good 1,300KM and the maximum speed 511 KM/H. Depending on its fittings, the ATR 72 can accommodate roughly 75 passengers.

Yes, small dents, scratches, paint chips or other signs of use are possible. These marks do not come from production, but from the aircraft’s time in service, flying millions of miles and being exposed to weather, UV radiation and extreme conditions at high altitude. They are part of what makes every Aviationtag unique – a genuine piece of aviation history.
