The Edition: Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 D-AIHE "Leverkusen"

A new official release in the Aviationtag x Lufthansa Collection: D-AIHE “Leverkusen”, a Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 with an extraordinary story.

Delivered to Lufthansa in January 2004, this four-engine long-haul aircraft became part of a memorable era in intercontinental aviation. With its elegant proportions, Rolls-Royce Trent engines and unmistakable Lufthansa presence, the A340-600 remains one of the most impressive widebody aircraft ever operated by the airline.

Now, original material from D-AIHE has been transformed into a strictly limited Aviationtag edition — crafted for collectors, Lufthansa fans and aviation enthusiasts who want to own a real piece of aircraft history.

Flying Science
The CARIBIC Research Aircraft

D-AIHE was more than a long-haul icon. As part of IAGOS-CARIBIC, the aircraft also served as a flying laboratory for climate and atmospheric research.

Between 2004 and March 2020, D-AIHE completed around 500 measurement flights during regular Lufthansa operations. While passengers crossed continents, scientific equipment on board collected valuable atmospheric data at cruising altitude.

That rare combination makes this edition especially collectible: a Lufthansa Airbus A340-600, a documented aircraft registration, and a genuine connection to aviation-based climate research.

Each Aviationtag from D-AIHE carries a piece of this unique story — from long-haul travel to flying science.

After its final flight in 2020, D-AIHE was parked in Teruel, Spain. In 2025, the aircraft was recycled — and part of its material was preserved by Aviationtag.

Every tag is made from original aircraft material and carries its own surface, character and history. No two pieces are exactly alike.

Officially licensed by Lufthansa and part of the Aviationtag x Lufthansa Collection, this edition brings together everything collectors love: aircraft authenticity, airline heritage and a story you can hold in your hand.
