Aviationtag and the Airlines

Aviationtag is proud to have formed numerous partnerships with some of the world's most renowned airlines. These collaborations allow aviation enthusiasts to acquire special mementos and carry a piece of the fascinating world of flying with them.

Each Aviationtag from these partnerships tells a unique story and is a coveted collector's item for aviation enthusiasts. In today's article, we will provide you with a brief overview of our previous collaborations.

Aviationtag X Lufthansa Airbus A340 Edition
First partner: Lufthansa

The German flag carrier, Lufthansa, is one of the most renowned airlines in the world with a rich tradition in aviation, and holds a special place in our collection. Aviationtag has already produced limited editions of two Boeing 747s, a Boeing 707, an Airbus A340, and an Airbus A320. These aircraft have completed thousands of flights and carry a piece of history within them.

Additionally, as a long-standing partner of the Lufthansa WorldShop, we have created several exclusive editions as part of our upcycling project.

Let's cross the Atlantic to the other side: American Airlines, one of the largest airlines in the world, boasts an impressive fleet of nearly 1,000 aircraft. Aviationtag has upcycled the iconic "Mad Dog," the McDonnell Douglas MD-82 N922TW, into a limited edition. Interestingly, this aircraft was also operated by Trans World Airlines (TWA) in the past.

Heading a bit further north, Air Canada stands as the flagship airline of Canada, founded back in 1964. In collaboration with this Star Alliance member, Aviationtag has created a limited edition from a former Air Canada Boeing 767.

Etihad is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and operates a fleet of 90 modern aircraft, with an average age of just 7 years. It is one of the few airlines that still operates the Airbus A380. The collaboration with Etihad has resulted in two editions so far: an Airbus A319 and the first Boeing 777-200LR, which has been recycled.

Aviationtag has also formed partnerships in the air cargo sector. DHL is a globally operating logistics company with its own airline, boasting a fleet of over 100 aircraft. Established in 1969, DHL is the largest pure cargo airline in Europe and the third largest in the world in terms of fleet size, following UPS and FedEx. Aviationtag has already upcycled two of the iconic yellow Boeing 757s into limited editions.

Jet2, on the other hand, has a completely different focus, with whom two joint editions have already been released: Jet2 is a British low-cost airline based in Leeds. Its sister company, jet2holidays.com, operates aircraft with its own livery. Jet2 was founded in 1978 and now has nearly 100 aircraft in its fleet, mainly consisting of Boeing 737s and the Airbus A320 family. Aviationtag has released two Jet2 editions: a Boeing 737 QC and a Boeing 737-300.

Another collaborative partner is EVA Air, a Taiwanese airline that, despite being established in 1989, has already gained cult status. The subsidiary, which is a subsidiary of Evergreen Marine, now operates a fleet of nearly 90 modern aircraft and is a member of the Star Alliance. Aviationtag was fortunate enough to obtain material from EVA Air's last Boeing 747 and create the limited B-16411 edition from it.

El Al and the Boeing 747

A legendary Boeing 747 edition was also created in collaboration with El Al, the national airline of Israel. El Al was founded in 1948 and initially operated its flights with a Douglas DC-4. The first Boeing 747 joined the El Al fleet in 1971, which was not without controversy. On one hand, the Boeing 747-200 was expensive, and on the other hand, its size made it a potential target for terrorists.

El Al achieved a world record with its participation in Operation Solomon, an Israeli military operation in 1991 aimed at facilitating the emigration of Ethiopian Jews to Israel. A Boeing 747-200 of El Al transported 1,135 passengers on a single flight and even 1,137 passengers after two births occurred during the flight.

The 4X-ELA, from which we created our Aviationtag X El Al edition, was the second-to-last Boeing 747 in the fleet and was retired in 2020.

We must not forget the Aviationtag X Air Tahiti Nui Edition from January 2023. From the former Airbus A340 F-OJTN, we have brought a vibrant piece of the South Seas into the world, thus paying tribute to the small carrier from French Polynesia.

Also fairly recent from 2022 is the Air Go Edition from the Piaggio Avanti P.180, marking Aviationtag's entry into the realm of business aviation.

An early collaboration was formed with fastjet from Tanzania. fastjet was an African low-cost carrier based in Dar es Salaam, which ceased operations in 2019. Symbolic of fastjet was the spectacular livery featuring the carrier's emblem, the Grey bird, prominently displayed on the tail fin. This design was also incorporated on the cardboard packaging and the reverse side of the Aviationtag edition featuring the Airbus A319 5H-FJF.

Another airline that no longer exists in its current form is Germanwings. Established in 2002 as one of the first German low-cost airlines, it initially operated as a subsidiary of Eurowings and later became a part of Lufthansa in 2009. In March 2020, the airline ceased operations, but some flights continue to be operated under the Germanwings license.

In collaboration with Germanwings, we launched our Aviationtag edition featuring the Airbus A320 D-AIPW. This series represents a unique achievement: an officially licensed edition of an airline that no longer officially exists.

Each Aviationtag in our editions tells its own captivating story and is truly one-of-a-kind. Whether as a gift, a collector's item, or a memento of an unforgettable flight, Aviationtags have versatile applications and hold significant emotional value. Each Aviationtag is a part of aviation history and stands out with its individual charm.
