flybe Tribute: Aviationtag from Dash-8 Q400 G-PRPG

Built in 2008 as MSN 4191, this De Havilland Dash-8 Q400 began life as N191WQ in US regional service, flying for United Express among others. In 2016 it moved to the UK, became G-PRPG and joined flybe—the purple backbone of British regional flying. G-PRPG connected Belfast, Düsseldorf, Amsterdam and London at high frequency until flybe’s first insolvency in March 2020. After storage, the aircraft was dismantled in Saarbrücken in 2024.

From selected skin sections we crafted this Aviationtag edition—a tribute to flybe and to everyone who shaped that era. The surface carries authentic traces of airline service, telling its story without fuss—presented in purple and white as supplied by the original cuts.

Thanks to its light yet sturdy feel and smoothly deburred edges, it slips into daily use with ease: a distinctive identifier on your backpack, camera case or flight bag, a clear marker on your trolley, or simply a daily companion on your keys that turns history into something you can actually carry. The unique serial number makes every piece unmistakable. Upcycled in Germany and limited to the panels available—a compact slice of aviation history, built to be used.

Note: Every tag is unique. Depending on the aircraft, they differ in feel, material thickness and color. Minor scratches, paint wear and surface irregularities are absolutely normal and reflect decades in the air — the authentic character of a vintage product made from upcycled materials. These characteristics are not production defects but mirror the condition of the original fuselage material used.

When using as a keychain or luggage tag we recommend the Aviationtag protective cover.

De Havilland Canada DHC-8-400 (Q400): The DHC-8-400 (Q400) is the longest and most powerful member of the Dash-8 family introduced in 1984. Flybe typically configured it with 78 seats, powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A engines. The type is about 32.8 m long with a 28.4 m wingspan, cruises around 660 km/h and, depending on variant, offers a range of up to roughly 1,100 NM. Our edition comes from the 2008-built Q400 G-PRPG (ex N191WQ), which first flew in the US for United Express and joined Flybe in 2016. After being grounded in 2020, the aircraft was dismantled in Saarbrücken in 2024. Created as a tribute to the much-loved airline, each tag carries genuine signs of service — presented in purple and white as supplied by the original cuts — making every piece a limited, one-of-a-kind slice of authentic aircraft skin.

Yes, small dents, scratches, paint chips or other signs of use are possible. These marks do not come from production, but from the aircraft’s time in service, flying millions of miles and being exposed to weather, UV radiation and extreme conditions at high altitude. They are part of what makes every Aviationtag unique – a genuine piece of aviation history.
