Aviationtag has already given many remarkable aircraft a second mission – including military aircraft. But a true fighter jet had never been part of our story. Until now.

With the McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawk, Aviationtag enters a completely new category: our first fighter jet edition.

The A-4 Skyhawk is one of the most legendary lightweight fighter and attack jets in aviation history. Compact, fast, agile, and built with performance in mind, the Skyhawk became an icon of military jet aviation – and continues to fascinate jet fans to this day.

This edition was created in official cooperation with Top Aces, one of the world’s leading providers of tactical air training and advanced adversary air services. Operating highly specialized jets and flown by some of the most experienced military aviators in the industry, Top Aces trains modern air forces under highly realistic conditions. In many ways, this is as close as civilian aviation enthusiasts can get to the real-world counterpart of what movies like Top Gun made famous.

The McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawk C-FGZO, built in 1976, manufacturer’s number 532, remains active in flight operations today. For that reason, this Aviationtag edition was not cut from the aircraft’s fuselage as usual, but created from original external fuel tanks – the so-called drop tanks – of this Skyhawk. Genuine material from a still-flying fighter jet, transformed into a limited Aviationtag.

The Skyhawk represents a different side of aviation history: military jet performance, uncompromising functionality, and a silhouette you do not forget. In combination with Top Aces, this edition goes far beyond classic aircraft memorabilia – a piece of active tactical training aviation, transformed into a collectible for avgeeks, jet fans, and everyone who knows aviation history is not only written in the passenger cabin.

Note: Every Aviationtag from this edition is unique. Due to the special sourcing of the material from original drop tanks of the still-flying McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawk C-FGZO, parts of the tags are printed and should be handled with particular care. Variations in color, surface, material thickness, scratches, or signs of use reflect the active history of the material and are not production defects.

For use on keys or luggage, we strongly recommend the matching Aviationtag Cover to help protect the surface, print, and engraving as much as possible.

The McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is one of the most iconic lightweight fighter and attack jets in aviation history. Developed as a compact, carrier-capable jet with high agility and robust operational capability, the Skyhawk first flew in 1954 and entered service in 1956. With production ending in 1979 after nearly 3,000 aircraft built, and decades of service in training, operational, and aggressor roles, it remains a true classic of military jet aviation. For this Aviationtag edition, original external fuel tanks – so-called drop tanks – of the still-active C-FGZO, built in 1976 and carrying manufacturer’s number 532, were upcycled into limited Aviationtags.
